Hello Again, March 21,2010 Sunday 6:45 PM
Its been awhile since I’ve written so, I figured I would drop a few lines. First to say thank you to all the lovely people of Dallas. Especially those who are supportive of Dallas Can Do Better and its efforts to improve upon this great city. While Dallas is making great strides in making improvements, we must keep in mind that it can only do as good as its citizens. The only changes that are bound to be made are those that we push and strive for.
Due to my current situation, it is my prayer that efforts will continue to be made in addressing the matters of injustice that has been imposed upon various citizens of Dallas, including myself. It’s sad to say, but the “justice” system only works when we make it work. We cant assume that just because an individual had been charged with an offense and appears in a court room, that the individual is guilty fo the alleged offense. We should compel our police and investigators to do a better job at gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses. They need to also do a better job at checking the credibility of said witnesses. Also, we need to compel the District Attorney’s Office to do as the law requires. It is their duty not to merely seek convictions but to seek the truth and justice. No justice is served when an innocent person is wrongfully convicted and sent off to prison. The fact that they (the state) were able to present testimony by unscrupulous people should never suffice. We need our District Attorney’s Office to perform with a great degree of integrity. We should never settle for the attitude of business as usual, where the state settles for seeking convictions by any means necessary! We need truth and fairness, nothing less.
Well, maybe I’ve said enough on that subject for now. I keep hoping and praying that eventually the truth will prevail in my case. Its been a long struggle, the 26th of March marked 23 years of confinement for an offense that I did not commit! Throughout the years I have found solace in knowing that God has not forsaken me. I also find comfort in the smaller things in life, that most people take for granted , like receiving a letter from a loved one, etc. The other day, Saturday March 20th, I was blessed to receive a visit with Sally and her daughter Katherine.
Now this was a very special visit because Katherine is a young aspiring author and journalist. I felt very privileged to be interviewed by her. What a blessing! In closing I pray that all you bloggers out there will be supportive of Dallas Can Do Better and its effort to improve upon our city and the entire county of Dallas. Its title is also its slogan, Dallas Can Do Better! Thank you for being so supportive. God bless and you all stay safe.
Much Love,
Benjamine Spencer III
