Senate debating HB1736

By kristina

The Senate is debating this bill as we speak. Had I known it would be today I would have driven down there to report directly from Austin but it seems like it was a last minute thing. I have heard they cut out the healthcare and education part of the bill on Monday already. Those cuts are truly unfortunate as the fiscal impact of them would be really, in the grand scheme, practically non-existant. Just something to think about healthcare wise. . . I have heard state reps and senators are vested after 10 years of service. The exonerees have served an average of 16 years in prison and basically been used as slave labor being paid almost nothing for their work assignments. Due to the fact that they have not been able to work in the free world and par into social security they do not qualify for benefits which  . . .  (as I am ranting the senate just agreed to put education benefits back into the bill as per sms from one of my contacts – yea!!!) what about the healthcare people ???? come Dallas can do better and so can the Texas legislature!
